Steins;Gate BD Vol 01-05

Episodes – 1-13
Info – 1920×1080 + FLAC, 1280×720 + AAC
Subs – Commie

Do not bitch about the choice of subs (or filesize). We won’t change it, and yes, they’ve been slightly modified.

EDIT: Quattro has decided that the subs need further fixing (inconsistencies and overlocalizations were left it), so there will be patches at some point in the future.

v2 patches

Still recruiting typesetters, timers, another editor, and another encoder.

    What slight modifications?

  2. Blackstar says:

New series so 10-bit right? Thanks for the release =)

  3. can you feel says:

Got to be kidding me, every fansub said that the filesize would be smaller and yet 85% of the time its even BIGGER then 8-bit.
    Seriously this is retarded.

    • Quattro says:

You obviously know nothing about encoding. The filesize is smaller for comparable quality. If you want quality comparable to these, you’d need an even larger filesize using 8-bit x264. No one said anything about them ALWAYS being smaller.

Do not bitch about the choice of subs (or filesize).

    • AsuraE says:

The 8-bit encodes I did (using the same settings) turned out at 1.7 and 1.55GB for the first two episodes, and that’s without the audio. Apart from that, the OP is a bitrate whore and the rest of the show needs a fuckload of bitrate to stop banding.

tl;dr: Stop whining about shit you don’t understand.

    • Index says:

i thought that Steins;Gate was full of dark scene, so it will need more bitrate…….

      • Quattro says:

        That’s a big reason.

      • AsuraE says:

Exactly. Between the dark scenes, banding and that OP (seriously, the OP is the definition of a bitrate whore), it ends up being bigger than “normal”.

        • wat says:

so why not use ordered chapters to shave 5 GB off the 1080p download?

that aside, any chance of a higher bitrate NCOP/NCED?

          • AsuraE says:

Because I didn’t feel like it. It’s 1080p, so if you’re downloading it then you wouldn’t give a fuck about an extra 1-2GB, especially when it’s spread over 13 episodes. Seriously, you’re just bitching for the sake of bitching and being a retard.

And there’s no needs for a higher bitrate NCOP/ED. The ED is already at the best it’ll look and artifacts/blocking/w/e from using a lower bitrate blend into the OP because of the loleffects. There’s like one half-second scene in the OP where you would be able to tell the difference.

          • wat says:

I was just wondering. don’t be so touchy.

also it’s really not just 1-2 GB but indeed a bit over 5 GB, assuming that you used similar encoding settings for all episodes (I only checked ep 13 – OP ~400MB, ED ~60MB in this case)

          • AsuraE says:

I was going off the standalone NCOP encodes I had at similar settings, although it does look like the average size is 250-300MB, so around 3-4GB. Thing is though, even third world net can handle an extra 3-4GB (I know this first hand).

Anyways, what it boils down to is my laziness and not wanting to have to make and explain how to troubleshoot ordered chapters.

          • wat says:

            fair enough

  4. Index says:

so these are higher quality than other release, then? I mean, less banding…..

    • Quattro says:

That’s the aim. I’ve honestly only seen the Coalgirls release aside from our own, but it’s certainly better than that.

      • Index says:

yeah, i heard too. people often said that their banding was horrid. i love Steins;Gate. i want higher quality. i don’t mind redownload everything :)

        thanks friends :)

        • Quattro says:

We did to, hence this release. Hope you enjoy it.

          • Spiller says:

Thanks for this. I downloaded Coalgirls release but was quite disappointed with the quality, to the point of it being annoying to watch.

Your encode of ep1 looked decent, still a bit of banding, but a lot better never the less. Even though I will have to download 15 GB again, it is definitively worth it.

  5. someguy says:

    warpsharped? (

  6. jKaito says:

cool I’ll get this instead. For me Coalgirls is a last option, if no one else is doing the BD. Thanks!

  7. Gustus_Mack says:

btw, no fansub group translated this series. Horrible and Steins Subs = CR, Commie = Modified CR. So you’re not getting or missing much regardless.

It’s a nuisance to have to read this much to find out which 720p encode was used. Both will be here forever since they address different hardware platforms. To label is to play nice.

    Zapping bookmark.

    • AsuraE says:

What are you trying to say?

    • Quattro says:

I have no idea what your point is.

We’re well aware of the fact that all groups who released used modified Horriblesubs, but we went with Commie as it was less work on the typesetter (and they’ve been edited further so that’s a plus).

And these were encoded from the BDMV directly, so I don’t see your qualm.

    • Index says:

      >btw, no fansub group translated this series

so? you want to do it by urself? sure. go ahead and TL it

  8. Arson says:

Patiently awaiting the next batch, thanks!

  9. waqasj says:

    Thanks for the release man…..

No comparison, the quality is awesome, who cares about size only quality matters….

  10. Dr. Pepper says:

It appears Coalgirls has dropped this show. I don’t mean to prod, but because there haven’t been any comments since November, I feel I need to ask: Do you plan to continue this show or are you dropping it as well? Thanks in advance for any response.

  11. Index says:

guys…. please seed it for a little more…

i’m still stuck at 47%….. blame my shitty internet

    • AsuraE says:

It is being seeded. If it’s too slow then use the ddls or xdcc.

      • DmonHiro says:

I’m sorry if I sound like a jerk about it, but please, just one seed for the 720p version. I am literally downloading with 1.3 kB/s. I would use the DLL’s but I already downloaded 79.8% of the torrent. We only need 1.12 GB. I swear I’ll seed for everyone else still on the torrent after I finish.

Thank you, and Happy New Year.

        • AsuraE says:

I’m connected to two seeds and downloading at ~500KB/s right now, so I have no idea what’s happening for you.

          • DmonHiro says:

There are now 3 seeds, but none of the leeches (me included) can’t seem to connect to them. Still, now we’re up at 89.8%, so thank you to the 3 seeds that popped up. Also, AsuraE, those 500 kB/s are NOT from the seeds. I’m uploading at 2 MB/s, and downloading at 25 kb/s. MUCH better then 1.3 kb/s.

          • Quattro says:

Not much else we can do unfortunately…

Also, in the coming few weeks we’ll be v2ing all of the 1080p (to fix the OP, and other consistency fixes), and a fair amount of the 720p. There will be patches of course though and they’ll be included in the final batch.

          • AsuraE says:

Just tried it again and got connected to one seed. Download speed was around 600KB/s, with around 180-200KB/s coming from that seed. So, once again, no idea why it’s not working for you.

      • Index says:

thanks for replying me. i appreciate that ;)

looking forward to the next release ;)

  12. Kurisu says:

This means you guys will be subbing the BD only ep, yes? :3

  13. Index says:

May I ask a wish? If u want to release a patch, can u also include a patch to turn off animation subtitle for the OP? it’s really bitrate whore. even with mplayer2. my computer couldn’t catch up with the scene. can u make it static?

or at least please tell me how to edit it by myself

Thanks and sorry if it sounds i demand too much

    • Quattro says:

No. The patch will not include a secondary subtitle track without the OP. I had suggested just removing the karaoke in the first place but it’s not worth it for us to bother at this point, sorry.

It may be best if you just turn off the subs during the OP if you can’t play it, or grab the 720p version instead.

      • Index says:

        >removing the karaoke
Ohh, i’ll do it by myself, then. Thanks for inform me :)

Ohh and i finish downloading 1080p and it’s really great! Far better than CGi. Although there’s still some banding, but it’s still acceptable ;)

And the character seems so smooth

        • Quattro says:

I didn’t mean the translation and styling mind you, just the movement. But either way, at this point it’s not worth it for us to do so…

        • AsuraE says:

tbh the 1080p is pretty much an upscale. The BDMV looked horrible and that’s why I had to filter it to the point that I did. And because of that filtering a bit of banding was introduced (which annoyed me to no end, but the only way to get rid of it was to go >2GB/ep, and my net can’t handle uploading that :( )

  14. john smith says:

Is it just me, or do the audio tracks for these file (1080p) have variable volumes across the duration of the playback? Sometimes it’s really loud, and other times I can barely hear a thing.

It would be a pity if this otherwise fine release were spoiled by such a defect.

  15. asd says:

Is it possible for u guys to reupload the ddl links in other file hosts? Fileserve disabled filre sharing… :(

    • AsuraE says:

Seeing as none of the latest releases we’ve done have ddls due to all hosts being absolutely shit and the fact that these releases have been basically nuked, no.

  16. Dahh says:

Any news on the rest? It’s almost a year after this post was released.

  17. Shawn263241 says:

The link to the patches is down. Would you please be so kind as to reupload them? Thanks.
