Freezing – 04 [Uncensored]

Ouch.

I have a hard time believing that she can still walk after this shot.

Disclaimer: We are not Whine-subs and “The reason we release at the same time as WhyNot is because <hiddentext> we ARE WhyNot</hiddentext> D: !!!” on their release was a joke if your sarcasm detector has failed you.

    Just to highlight you:
16:22 “A type-S appeared on the grounds during the field exorcises”
    >>Exercises, darou?

And, this is a suggestion for the translator about ep 3 (and whichever episode it appears ), but shouldn’t he use nee-san instead of translate as ‘girl’, you know, similarly some of them even call the freezing ‘little brother’ (same ep 3), guess is the right choice.

      It should be exercises… Thanks.

As for “nee-san” when Arthur uses it, sister sounded stupid with Aoi throwing around “nee-san” all the time. This was the editor’s decision, not the TL though. Leaving it as is would be poor translation and editing, so “girl” was used. In this specific case of usage, there really is no good equivalent in English.

  7. Nsen says:

    Na~.
You know, about nee-san is a stereotype, and I’m pretty sure they made it to sound like that, like many others we see so far in this anime, Like that Sempai-Kouhai relationship, enhanced to a military level this time!!!. The man character here is meant to be frail (at some times, anyways), don’t you agree in ep 4 the blond boy (don’t remember the name) do have very frail robustness and seems the type who is protected rather than the protector, look how the Pandora look carefully for him (40s, not a second more, and like she jumps to protect him with all her might when Sat attacks) . They got further and said the boys have to be younger (like little brothers) obligatorily. Since you don’t dropped the honorifics you could use nee-san as well, since it’s mean to represent a relationship from older to younger in a subtle way in this anime. And about look idiots, well, in animes they do it all the time, lol (isn’t that one of the great things). So, this is the rebuttal for the editor. Just to give a second opinion.

    • EpicNaruto says:

I don’t see how any of that is relevant really. They may have hierarchal type relationships but that doesn’t change the fact that “nee-san” when used by Arthur is pretty ambiguous. It could mean any number of things in reality but we can’t actually say for sure his intent or meaning behind it. Although, we can take a guess that it is his way of showing his admiration and respect (in a cutesy, flirtatious way). Regardless of whether or not we leave honorifics in, in the case of calling someone “nee-san” by itself, it should not be left as is. That is leaving it untranslated. Anyways, opinions are welcome but this particular case is pretty minor because it’s almost never mentioned again in the manga.

Just so you know, Whine Subs have better subtitles for Freezing as shown by ji-hi.net

Go ahead. Just try to explain that one.

Oh and if you’re going to come here simply to say you think someone else’s release is better than ours, back it up at least. “Group A is better than group B because lulz, I said so.” Besides, this isn’t a bloody competition. We want to release, and they want to release. I don’t care whose release is “better” though. If you have constructive criticism to help us improve our own, then by all means let’s hear it.

P.S. Why don’t you go check out the ratings and download stats for the different releases and do a little comparison. You’ll find out some interesting facts. I don’t think we’re the ones who need to step up our game.

      • Dark_Sage says:

        ._.

        • EpicNaruto says:

Haha, it wasn’t meant as an insult. I just really hate the fansub comparison wars and having someone just come here to say “So and so is better than you, stop sucking.” We all work hard on the releases and volunteer our time to do this.

P.S. I don’t see anything wrong with either release and things like anidb or MAL ratings have absolutely no meaning whatsoever. I just wanted to see what their reasoning was as to why ours is bad.

            >and things like anidb or MAL ratings have absolutely no meaning whatsoever.

Contradicting yourself there… If they’re important, why mention them in the first place? Apparently to you, they clearly do matter.

          • EpicNaruto says:

The reason I mentioned it was to prove a point though. I was simply directing them to sources that would indicate otherwise regardless of whether or not I personally think they mean anything. I’ve always thought that things like anidb or MAL ratings have no meaning because the users are terrible and know absolutely nothing.
