Denpa Teki na Kanojo BD – 01

Episode: 1
Info: 720p + AAC
Subs: Heavily edited Ayako

<&AsuraE> 720p only because it’s an upscale and is aliased as all fuck
<&AsuraE> Set “sub pictures to buffer” in mpc to a higher number
<&AsuraE> because of the typesetting
<&AsuraE> so you don’t lag like a bitch then complain about shit not working
<&AsuraE> and…
<&AsuraE> if anyone wants flac, say so in the comments and I might make a patch
<&AsuraE> also, ep 2 will be out next weekend

Torrent | AAC DDL1 | AAC DDL2 | FLAC DDL
I’ll add this to the projects page when I’m not lazy…

AsuraE Edit: Unfortunately, ep 2 won’t be out until next weekend at the earliest due to assignments and finals. I freaking hate summer semester =_= <-- Summer? I see snow on the ground here. Edit2: I'm making the FLAC version, but the patch is coming out at practically the same size as the actual release, so I'll just be uploading the full release. Quattro edit: FLAC version is available via DDL only for now. Didn't think we'd have to add this to quell confusion, but this is from the BD, not a DVD upscale.

Yeah, FLAC-less would be good, although it doesn’t help for downloading to get the FLAC version and then patch it out… maybe in ep2, AAC/AC3, with FLAC as the patch?

  2. Daniel says:

    FLAC please

  3. adder says:

    Also FLAC please!!!

btw, what improvements were made on the original Ayako-subs?

    • AsuraE says:

They were very, very, very heavily edited and I spent the last three days typesetting the stuff that Ayako was too lazy/bad to do. Also, even though it’s a given, the timing is perfect.

  4. Your Future says:

    8-bit please, I can’t play 10-bit 720p and many others can’t either.

    • MrDrSr says:

We don’t release in 8-bit anymore. Some stuff got grandfathered in, but everything new (including this) is gonna be 10-bit. There’s a few posts on here somewhere that explain all that.

    • AsuraE says:

For this specific release, 8-bit won’t help anyway. The typesetting is pretty intense, so if you can’t handle ~10-20% extra CPU for 10-bit, then you can’t handle this.

  5. Gar says:

    Thank you!!!

  6. Noko says:

Yeah flac would be cool, patch or no patch, I can do it myself if need be.

  7. kaz3phyrous says:

    Thank you and flac please.

  8. Niku says:

    You guys are awesome

  9. ChRno says:

    Thanks a bunch guys! :)

  10. Anononono says:

You guys did a good job on this. I was pleasantly surprised. Thank you.

  11. erejnion says:

Why 720p? Isn’t the usual stuff about upscaled dvd for filtering reasons 576p? I am just curious, don’t feel the need to respond/flame.

  12. Keeper says:

There are still only two episodes of this right?
The third hasn’t magically been made?

    • AsuraE says:

Yeah there’s only two. However, it’s extremely rare that OVAs like these (i.e. ones that were sold with manga/light novels) get a rerelease, so my thought on this is that they are testing to see whether a third could potentially make money.

tl;dr: Japs buy enough and we might get a third.

      • Koby says:

Reading these comments… does that mean episode two doesn’t actually conclude the story in any way leaving it open for a third episode? Or are you just wishing there would have been more episodes because you enjoyed it or to flesh out a better ending?

        • AsuraE says:

Each episode has its owned closed ended, but they only adapted volumes one and three of the novels. People just want more because it’s so good, like how everyone wants more Spice and Wolf.

          • Kresh says:

Spice and Wolf is good? I’m not saying it isn’t, as I haven’t seen it, but nobody has ever said “Hey, this Spice and Wolf is a good anime.” I think this is the first I’ve heard.

Is it as good as this? These two episodes got me through a rough anime patch where I almost stopped watching due to total season quality fail on Japan’s part.

Oh, and last but not least, thanks for the release. I’ve been hoping for a HQ version since I saw them the first time! Well done chaps (and chapettes, if there are any)!

          • Quattro says:

Spice & Wolf was great. How have you never heard anything positive about it…?

          • AsuraE says:

It’s nothing like this (genre wise), but it’s really good.

          • MrDrSr says:

Related. Still an awesome show though.

  13. sea says:

Any chance for the Doki-BTN subs?

    • Quattro says:

No. As far as we could tell, they were even worse than Ayako.

    • AsuraE says:

Doki-BTN – Subs so bad that Doki had to improve them… yeah, that won’t happen.

      • zxc says:

Actually, BTN/Doki took subs from EnA, who was a respectable group. I picked up Doki-BTN over Ayako for DVD a while ago judging by the quality of ED translation, but I guess I’ll check these out once you guys release the second episode. (Doki already released BD themselves, so I’m glad Ayako subs were chosen here).

        • AsuraE says:

From Doki’s initial release: “This one belonged to another group that various members of Doki were part of. That group is dead now, so we’ve updated the script, cleaned out the crap and brought everything up to Doki grade. We even did some re-encoding. Now it’s fit for release.”

Doesn’t sound it was very good, does it?

          • zxc says:

Yeah, the “other group” was describing BTN, as EnA was never affiliated with either of them. As long as their idea of clean up was more fixing typos than retranslating lines…

I’ll probably rewatch with both releases side by side and then pick one to archive at the end. I do expect your release will have better encoding than Doki’s, though.

          • AsuraE says:

Why are you watching subs anyway if you know enough Japanese to be able to judge translations?

  14. firebound12 says:

Is it just me or the ending credits subs is misplaced? You can see the credits rolling from below the subs.

  15. sandoe41 says:

Great work on this release, will be waiting for the 2nd release next week.

  16. Cmp says:

Is Ayako’s translation any good in the first place!? As far as I’ve heard they’re not good. Do you at least TLC this after editing it? Thank you for working on this nice OVA!

    • Quattro says:

The reason Ayako was bad was because of select translators (arashi0, also the leader of Hadena), and a complete lack of editing.

      • Cmp says:

Thank you for relying. So I guess that means this wasn’t translated by arashi0 but by someone who actually knows Japanese… Thanks again for a quality release for this series!

        • AsuraE says:

Yeah, the first thing I did when I was choosing what subs to use for this was to facedesk (Doki vs Ayako =_=). The second was to make sure that arashi0 had absolutely no part in this.

  17. Cmp says:

    Do you = Did you

  18. Yaya says:

What an episode! Loved it! Once again, you guys did an absolute bang-up job! Ame-chan was awesome! At first I thought she was creepy but damn! After the last what, 15 mins. of the show, I want her on my team any time! Look forward to OVA number two.

    • AsuraE says:

Ep 02 has been ready to be released for hours now but,

      [16:42] < &AsuraE> Quattro, go release denpa 02
      [16:44] < ~Yoki|work> nope, sleep time AsuraE

He was on for another half hour after that =_=

      • Yaya says:

Well, I already know it will be released when you all get around to it…hell, I waited this long to watch it, I can wait a little more as I know it will be worth it. ^^ Thanks in advance.
